Another Super Tuesday is behind us, and everyone is talking about the good day Hillary had. Her good day was a bad day for those of us whose beliefs contradict hers. We wonder what in the world Americans can be thinking with the possibility that she or Obama and their liberal ways could be running our country come next January.
Over the past several months, I've become acquainted with a woman who moved to Colorado Springs with her husband to start a prayer and healing center. I believe God relocated them to our neighborhood if for no other reason that I could learn new truths about prayer. And one of those new things comes to mind on this side of Super Tuesday: Instead of letting my senses control me, I will be controlled by God's Word.
Too many times, we allow what we see, hear, and feel control what we believe. We see the liberals winning, and we're ready to throw in the towel. We hear criticism against the values we hold dear, and we grow silent. We feel discouraged, and we find it hard to keep the faith.
What about if instead of being controlled by these things, we look to the Bible and find out the real truth, regardless of how things appear. What about if we see the bad seeming to win and hear criticism and dismal reports, and instead of feeling despondent and defeated, we pray back verses such as these:
"Thank you, God, because in all these things we are more than conquerors (Romans 8:37). Thank you because "more than conquerors" means "over and above, super-victorious, winning more than an ordinary victory." Thank you because in this situation, You are totally in charge, You are sufficiently able, and You are abundantly at work enabling Your people to be more than conquerors."
"Thank you, God, because You're the same yesterday, today, and forever (Hebrews 13:8). You fought battles for Moses, Joshua, Jehoshaphat and countless others from the Bible, and now you're fighting for us. Your people were able to count on Your promises then, and they're able to count on them now. Yesterday, today, and forever, thank You and we are on the winning team--both in our personal lives and in all these things going on around us."
"Thank you, God, that you give Your angels charge over us so we won't be detroyed (Ps. 91:11).There is nothing that can wipe out Your Word or Your people. God. Thank You that the name of the Lord is a strong tower, and we can run into that tower, and we are safe" (Pro. 18:10).
Obviously, I could go on and on, basing truth-despite-appearances praying based on specific, eternal principles of God's Word.
Every day, watch or listen or read the news. Then open your Bible and start reading. It won't be long until you have a new, victorious, and specific direction to pray. Go ahead, insert details--whether personal or ones you read or hear about. Write them down and pray them back to the One who created all this anyway.
That's how we make a difference. That's how we achieve victory. That's how we break through. That's how we engage the armies of heaven. That's how we bring glory to His name.
