I don't know how. I don't know when. But I do know, because God said so.
A July poll reported that President Bush is the most unpopular president in modern American history. A CNN/Opinion Research Corporation survey indicated that 71 percent of the American public disapprove of how Bush is handling his job as president. They wrote: "No president has ever had a higher disapproval rating in any CNN or Gallup Poll. In fact, this is the first time that any president's disapproval rating has cracked the 70 percent mark," said Keating Holland, CNN's polling director.
The reality is, however, that President Bush openly proclaims his relationship with Christ. Even with mistakes that he's made, that relationship brings favor. Many Scriptures promise us that the godly will never be ashamed. For example:
"O my God, I trust in You; Let me not be ashamed; Let not my enemies triumph over me. Indeed, let no one who waits on You be ashamed. Let those be ashamed who deal treacherously without cause" (Ps 25:2-3).
Simply put, God's Word promises that the righteous will not be ashamed. And if President Bush is righteous, he will not be ashamed. God will do what needs to be done to vindicate His people. The story's not over yet. And I for one choose to look at the bigger picture and the bigger promise rather than the circumstances that show up in the headlines today.
I don't know how. I don't know when. But I do know: Those who trust in God will not be ashamed. Not then. Not ever.
